If you are using an autonomous alternative energy system, you will need a rechargeable battery with
deep discharge batteries.

The most common deep-cycle batteries used in autonomous power systems are (deep-

cycle) lead-acid batteries, because they are reliable, affordable, and capable of repeatedly deep-discharging and charging.

But a lot is being asked of deep-cycle lead-acid batteries in autonomous power systems. The

regular deep discharge and then recharge that they have to perform creates a lot of stress on the batteries.

But if you take care of the batteries properly ... and also make some tips and tricks, we will

teach you in this article, you can maximize the duration of your deep battery cycle.

In this article, we will not only show you our 7 best ways to extend the life of your

deep-discharge lead-acid batteries ...

We'll also point out some of the most common mistakes people make.

when they use deep-cycle lead-acid batteries in their autonomous power system (so

you don't make the same mistakes)!

The battery pack is the Achilles ' heel

Solar / Wind / autonomous energy systems

Before we give you 7 basic tips and tricks, we want you to know why this

information is important ...

One of the most expensive parts of an autonomous power system is the battery.

the bank.

And batteries tend to fail first.

Improper battery care often results in batteries in the battery compartment ahead of their time. This forces people to buy new expensive batteries and also harms their battery life while they replace dead batteries.

So proper care is critical so you prevent premature aging of your batteries and maximize their lifespan.

Tip: If your deep-discharge lead-acid batteries do run out of power ... or if you just want to

save on the battery, you can:

* Get old batteries for free (or cheap if you know where to look)

* Restore them to 100% of their original working state.

* And build your battery pack with these batteries instead of the new expensive

batteries.

7 ways to extend the life of a lead-acid cycle

Batteries

# 1) Use high-quality batteries

So this advice probably seems obvious, but the old adage "You get what you pay for" holds

true for most deep-discharge batteries.

Cheap batteries from China are flooding the market right now, and you want to avoid using them. As a rule, their life expectancy is much shorter compared to high-quality batteries, for which you pay a little more.

High quality flat plate batteries can last from 10 to 12 years. The more expensive batteries with tubular plates can last up to 20-25 years with proper maintenance.

It may seem that prepayment for better batteries that will last 10-25 years is expensive, but in fact it is more expensive to buy cheap batteries ... Then replacing them every couple of years (because they die early).

If you want to save on the battery, do not buy "cheap" batteries, instead get high-quality used batteries and restore them to their original condition.

condition.

# 2) Corrosion prevention Even if you use the most expensive, high -quality batteries in your battery bank, this will be of little use if the batteries are not taken care of and there is corrosion or acid on them.

Before assembling all the components of your battery pack, be sure to cover the terminals, wire tips, nuts and bolts with a non-hardening sealant.

You can also apply a thin layer of vaseline to the battery terminals for some extra protection.

Finally, seal the exposed wire on the terminal block with an underwater rubber band or

something similar.

The reason all of this needs to be done before assembly is because it ensures that all parts are equally protected. If you apply protective substances after you have finished assembling the system, there is a high probability of dirt getting into small spaces that have not been  properly covered.

# 3) Make sure that the battery pack and photovoltaic array are the correct size:

If you are using a solar panel or wind farm, make sure that your battery pack is large enough to withstand a load of six to ten days.

This provides:

1. You will always have a good backup power supply.

2.You will also be able to use the batteries more carefully so that you do not need to constantly drain them.

# 4) Fully charge your batteries every three weeks

At the very least, make sure to fully charge the batteries every 3 weeks.

This reduces corrosion inside and ensures alignment.

# 5) Keep the batteries at the perfect temperature

Since extreme temperatures cause the batteries to wear out much faster, this is It is important to store the batteries in a place with a low temperature. relatively stable.

In addition to closed aboveground structures, you can also create a structure that is partially underground. Thus, the temperature in the structure will remain unchanged.

the same no matter what the weather is outside.

Also, make sure that the charge controller or inverter system has a built -in temperature compensation function. This is necessary because the battery charge voltage limit increases as the temperature decreases and decreases as the temperature increases.

6. Do not install more than three parallel sets of batteries Ideally, the battery should consist of only one series of cells.

the more cells are included, the higher the probability of random defects.

It is also more likely to lose alignment, which will lead to cell failure.

prematurely.

If you can't stick to just one series of cells in a battery bank, limit it to three parallel sets of batteries.

# 7) Install a digital renewable energy system monitor

Renewable electronic energy
